Amazing Game Movies

Granted, most of these were done with emulators and other tricks that enabled this type of speed, but it’s still amazing to see the speed at which people complete old-school NES games.

Oddball — Yet Fascinating — Research

How somebody thought of this as a research topic, I have no idea, but this is a fascinating 75-page read on the topic of Candy Bar Wrapper design.

The Most Expensive Album Never Made

Expenses have roughly totalled $13-million for a Guns N’ Roses album that was never made.

Where Have I Seen That Guy?

Obviously, I don’t watch too many movies, as I only got two right on this little quiz.

Oh Crap

Another major earthquake has been reported off the Indonesian coast. This one was an 8.2 8.5 (from story link above), which can still cause some pretty serious tsunamis.

Additional Reuters story and more from WikiNews and CNN.

Surgery Finally Paid Off

As many long time readers of this blog know, I had surgery on my back just over a year ago. Despite getting the surgeon for free, I still had to pay off the hospital and some other bills. I’m happy to say that my tax return killed off my remaining balance, and I now I don’t owe the local hospital a single dime — and now I have an extra $95/month in my pocket.

Now if I could just get rid of my student loans, then life would be good, and I’d have another $130/month in my pocket.

The School Shooter Was One Messed Up Dude

We all know about the school shooting in Minnesota last week, but what’s more disturbing is why they didn’t see something wrong with this kid before? I mean, look at the violent Flash animation the kid created, or the posts on his LiveJournal, or his postings on a neo-Nazi message board. The kid had some serious issues, and if nobody noticed this and offered help or guidance, then there is more to blame than just this kid. Obviously, he pulled the trigger, but he wouldn’t have felt the need had he had some support.

It doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things anyway, as everybody will just blame violent video games.

Experimenting With Ads

Don’t mind me, I’m experimenting with some ad formats from FastClick. There will be a small one appearing on the upper right of this page and one at the bottom.

If you see a problem with these ads, please let me know, I’m just trying to find a way to make a few bucks on this site to support hosting fees, etc… . If you find them intrusive, let me know!

And no, I’m not selling out, I just figured if I could make a few bucks on this, I could convince the wife to let me spend more time doing it, so click away, folks!

13 Things That Don’t Make Sense

Most of this is entirely out of my realm of understanding, but it’s still a fascinating read.
