I was talking to my cousin who is living in Japan, teaching over there. He told me that Japanese folks have a thing with mayonnaise, and they will put it in anything. Case in point:
Mmm….Boy does that sound appetizing. Now excuse me while I go yack.

One of the types of pizza delivered by a “domino’s” -like chain came with corn and mayo. Also at the time I was living and working in Japan (1995-2000), SMAP was one of the most popular boy/pop bands in Japan. One of their members was famous from carrying around a squeeze bottle of mayo that he would often just take a ‘hit’ of, straight.
It’s actually no wonder that most of the junior high schools have to get new classroom furniture/desks because the children are now too big for the old ones.
A few things have changed. SMAP now has 5 members instead of 4. They are still popular, but not as much. They have their own tv show called SMAPxSMAP. and their members often star in Japanese Dramas. While the pizza you mention is still on the menu, I still find the triple corn delight rather funny.
hmmm. must try that. i wonder if they have cheezy oroeos to?
The funny thing that I remember about the SMAPxSMAP show was the cooking segments. If I remember correctly they were like mini-Iron Chef competitions with the SMAP members pairing up and competing for the culinary affection of a guest star.
