I Promise

Got all the political crap out of my system today. Will be back to normal mindless crap tomorrow.

Why Bush Didn’t Want The World To See His Site

I mentioned before that the rest of the world can’t see Bush’s site. I think this might have something to do with it. Link via NTK.

The Battle of the Bulge

So what was that bulge underneath Bush’s coat during the debates? Think what you will, but one NASA Scientist doesn’t believe it was a problem with his shirt.

He knew the president was not telling the truth. And Nelson is neither conspiracy theorist nor midnight blogger. He’s a senior research scientist for NASA and for Caltech’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and an international authority on image analysis. Currently he’s engrossed in analyzing digital photos of Saturn’s moon Titan, determining its shape, whether it contains craters or canyons.

For the past week, while at home, using his own computers, and off the clock at Caltech and NASA, Nelson has been analyzing images of the president’s back during the debates. A professional physicist and photo analyst for more than 30 years, he speaks earnestly and thoughtfully about his subject. “I am willing to stake my scientific reputation to the statement that Bush was wearing something under his jacket during the debate,” he says. “This is not about a bad suit. And there’s no way the bulge can be described as a wrinkled shirt.”

I really do wish the truth would come out about this, as I have a hard time believing that he wasn’t wired. Thanks Barn for the link.

A Geek on Politics

Sticking with today’s political theme, I had to mention this. Fred Langa runs a great newsletter (of which I’m a plus member) that is always full of great computer tips, tricks, and advice. I get it twice a week, and make sure I read it as thoroughly as possible.

In his latest issue, he deviates (if only for a moment) from his geek content and publishes a great commentary as to why he’s voting for Kerry. Good read, and I agree with him on every point.

Think About The Kittens

When you’re voting on Tuesday, remember to think about the kittens:

Sent to me by a friend of mine, though it looks like a Fark photoshop content entry. If somebody knows the original thread, let me know so I can link to it and give the author credit.

Why Kerry Will Win On Tuesday

Barney sends me a note he got from a mailing list he’s on:

Further solid evidence that Kerry will win on Tuesday comes in the score Green Bay 28, Washington 14. Since 1933, when the Redskins have lost their home game just prior to a presidential election, so has the incumbent.

Well if that doesn’t cinch it all up, I don’t know what does. Really.

I still can’t wait for this to be over.

Ink Blob Screws Up Local Ballots

Because of a printing problem, some random ink-blobs were spattered onto a very small amount of Redmond-area ballots. Because of that ink blob’s location, the vote-counting computers read it as a vote for the Kerry-Edwards ticket. If somebody with a ballot like that had voted for Bush, the blob in the Kerry section would’ve nullified both votes. Luckily, they’ve only seen in on a few ballots, and they’ve corrected them.

Is November 3rd Here Yet?

I just want this election to go away.

I’m so sick of all the crap on TV, the random recorded message phone calls two or three times a day, and the pile of direct mail I get everyday. I sent in my ballot weeks ago, folks, quit frickin’ harassing me! I think because I’m registered as an unaffiliated (no party) voter that I get more crap as I’m one of those critical “swing” voters. Or something like that.

I’m also getting sick of all the signs in people’s yards. There’s a strong Kerry supporter living up the street from me that is surrounded by Bush signs. So he not only has the standard-sized Kerry signs all over his yard, but he got one of the gigantic signs you typical see on large plots of land on major highways, and stuck that in his front yard, right underneath his American flag.

Really, folks, what are we trying to prove? All of the signs in the world are not going to change too many people’s minds, especially in Oregon where many folks have long since mailed in their ballots or dropped them off at an official ballot drop off (or, in some cases, people stupidly putting ballots in these unofficial drops).

I think that in 2008, I’m going to vote based on who sends me and bugs me with the least amount of crap. If I get something in the mail from you, get a phone call from your group, or get a solicitor at my door that represents you, you’re a point. The person/measures with the least amount of points will get my vote.

Bush Administration Started Central Oregon Fire

That’s basically what I get from this. A Portland environmental group, the Oregon Wildlife Federation, claimed Friday that its own investigation had concluded that the August 2003 Booth Fire, one of two blazes that merged to form the almost 92,000-acre B&B Complex Fire west of Sisters, “was most likely caused by political arson.”

I remember sort of believing something along these lines when Bush came to visit before (as did others). It just seemed a little peculiar that there was no evidence of lightning in the area, and suddenly there’s a fire just before his visit. I just wish that if this evidence and investigation has any sort of merit that it would’ve been brought to light a few months ago so it could actually have an affect on the election.

It’s Every Actor’s Dream

Budding actors: Haven’t you ever wanted to punch the leading lady in the face and beat up the director? Somebody lived your dream.
