It was a dark and stormy night

A fun little story that someone sent me (don’t forget the link at the end):

It was a cold, dark, stormy night. They were alone in the house. The storm had come up quickly and each time the thunder boomed, he watched her jump.

She looked across the room and admired his strong appearance. She wished that he would take her in his arms, comfort her, protect her from the storm. She wanted that…

Then the power went out.

She screamed.

He raced to the sofa where she was cowering. He did not hesitate to pull her into his arms. He knew this was a forbidden union and expected her to pull back. He was surprised when she didn’t resist, but instead clung to him.

The storm raged on, as did their growing passion, and there came a moment when each knew that they had to be together. They knew it was wrong. Their families would not understand.

But they were so consumed in their passion they didn’t hear the door or the click of the light switch.

The power was back on……. and the lights came on….

Beluga caviar, Carr’s table water crackers, and BioChem whey powder

These are just a few of the things The Boss requires at every city when he’s on tour. Click here for the full dissertation about his concert requirements.

Video highlights

I’m gonna go ahead and post this, but I bet no one cares.

It’s about 3 mins, 25meg, MPEG format. It’s from a recent conference my company had in Chicago. Bad lighting, and fluctuating ‘auto white balance’ plagued the original footage, plus bad sound pickup from internal mic.

I found creative ways to fix the worst white balance areas (converted to b&w), some added green screen footage and post production audio, and several after effects tricks.

Dogs freak out when they can’t find fire hydrants in snow

Gotta love man’s best friend:

Dogs have to settle for a snowy spot — not their usual hydrant or patch of grass — when they’re ready to relieve themselves. “It’s like [us] trying to go to the bathroom on an airplane,” says a vet.

Woman has worked at McD’s for 33 years, hasn’t had a Big Mac

Another from Obscure Store:

Clare Kimmerle, 79, has worked at the McDonald’s near her home since it opened in 1970. She has never, in 32 years and 10 months of employment, flipped a burger. Never eaten a Big Mac. (Too filling.) Never worked the drive-through or worn a headset. “It would give me a headache,” she says. She started at $1.75 an hour , and now earns closer to $12.

Honestly, she hasn’t missed much. The food there tastes like crap. Full Story.

Mom sues after daughter isn’t named valedictorian

From Obscure Store:

Sharisse Kanet is spending her high school senior year enrolled at Wesleyan University, but her family believes she should still be named valedictorian. The dad of the No. 2 student says: “How could this person be the class valedictorian when they’re not a student at Hull High School?”

Idiots arrested for sexually assaulting dead 4 year old at morgue

OK, I really need a “Sick” category. Two employees of a company that transports bodies for the coroner’s office were arrested after investigators discovered the body of a 4-year-old girl was sexually assaulted at the county morgue, authorities said. Full Story.

Gridlock – A Tricky Block-Moving Game

An annnoyingly addictive puzzle game that reminds me a lot of Rush Hour (of which online versions exist as well). Both are fun, but this is just much nicer looking and faster (I hate most Java-based games).
