It was research, officer, I swear

According to this article, rock legend Pete Townshend has issued a public statement denying being a paedophile after his name was linked with a police Internet porn inquiry. I just love this quote from the article:

“I think I may have been sexually abused as a child and I was doing research into it.”

Hmmm… .

Update on 1/12: Looks like he’s admitted to paying to view child pornography, but only “to see what was there.” That’s like saying you read Playboy just for the articles.

Will one of the U.S. states will become a “free state”?

I doubt it, but folks are trying to make it happen. Hawaii has a group of folks that want to become independent again, and there’s talk of other states as viable options as well.

If you download this, prepare to kill an entire afternoon playing it.

Man who died was “lucky”

OK, so I took that a bit out of context, but I just love the quote in this story:

“The man got extremely lucky that he didn’t hit another vehicle.”

Right, because he’d be even more dead.

(It’s a joke people, relax…I know he could have killed somebody else, too).

Why do people feel the need to bash and/or shoot at car windows?

People like this are Absolute Morons™. Why did I link to this story? It reminded me of a story of my high school days. Actually, it was the year after I graduated when this happened, but it affected my brother, so that’s why I remember. Click on “More” to read on.

Dad pays son’s $11,040 worth of parking tickets

No, I’m not kidding. Jaime Rodriguez shares the same first name as his son. Apparently this fact cause the city of Chicago to put all his son’s parking tickets in his name. From the story:

The teacher, who topped Chicago’s list of city employees with unpaid tickets, explained that it was his 26-year-old son–also named Jaime–who accumulated the citations, not him.

[…]

The younger Rodriguez collected tickets both on his own car and his dad’s car. His father said the city “took the easy way out” and stuck him with the citations because his name is the same as his son’s.

The elder Rodriguez says he has learned a lesson: “Not to lend my car to my kid — or to change my son’s name to Peter, or something.”

Bill Gates doesn’t know how to wear a watch

I guess when you have that kind of money, you can just have other people tell you the time. But at least make sure you’re wearing your watch right-side up when you post a picture on your Web site. (click on the picture)

You gotta love the irony

Linuxworldexpo.com. You would think that site would run Linux, right? Nope. It’s running Windows. Kind of reminds me of Microsoft’s troubles getting Hotmail converted to Windows (it was running Unix before — and ran better).

Slow versus Big news days

Slow day versus Big (from NTK)

Is that a man or a woman?

OK, this has to be the scariest … uh … thing, I’ve ever seen on HotOrNot.com.

Gregg: Well, she certainly does have a LOT to offer…
