Anybody Have An iPhone in Bend? You Getting 3G?

I've heard it through the grapevine that while AT&T isn't supposed to be launching the iPhone in Central Oregon until early next year, they've already turned on some 3G coverage in Bend. Anybody in the area have an iPhone that can confirm (and where in town they're getting it)?

Our family all has iPhones and starting Friday night have had coverage all over Bend's east side and west side. The AT&T store is supposed to open in January 2010.

Coverage is spotty at best. I can be standing in one place and watch my signal go from full strength 3G, to Edge, to voice only, to complete signal loss (searching for service).

Totally annoying and almost useless where I live on the west side. I was much happier when I had an unlocked/jailbroken iPhone operating on the Unicel network. My son's iPhone is on TMobile and he gets much better coverage in Bend than I do.
