UtterlyBoring.com is produced by Jake Ortman (e-mail, resume), a 31-year-old dad, percussionist, freelance Web designer, IT consultant and jack-of-all-trades computer geek, living in Bend, Oregon. He created this so that his expensive journalism and technology degree isn't getting totally wasted. Browsing The Web at 300 baudBefore everybody had high speed, we geeks connected to the 'net with modems. Usually we connected with the 56kbps variety (my first modem was a 2400baud, but that was just for community BBSs). We had an ASR 33 Teletype connected to a modem (an acoustic couple) that communicated at a blazing 110 baud. When Novation came out with the 300 baud Cat modem it was a happy day in nerd-ville.
