Nothing Says Portland Like Rain, Perry Mason
If it's noon in Portland, nearly 10% of Portlanders are watching Perry Mason. When I lived in Eugene and didn't have cable, KPTV was one of the few channels we received over the air, and I would come home for lunch quite a bit and watch it with my wife. Glad to know I'm not the only one (it was either that, or some lame soap-opera or cheesy Judge Judy-type of show).
But the best part of the article is this user comment: I watched Perry Mason alot and still do on occasion. Thanks to Perry Mason, I went to 2 year college.
One lunch hour, shortly after graduating from high school, I was watching Perry and a commercial came on for a 2 year tech college.
Perry saved me from choosing an old Spitfire or Fiat over higher education. As a result, I make a living wage in a liberal area instead of living with my parents in a town where I could not define myself.
Thanks Perry! (and KPTV) Link via Obscure Store.
