Got A Car

I mentioned that I was looking for a new car, and went and picked up my nearly dead car today and went shopping for a new one -- and I got one.

Don't have pics yet, but basically held a local dealer to a price they were advertising on their web site for a 2001 Hyundai Accent (which was a mistake, as it was like a third of the Blue Book for it). It's a small little car, which is is perfect for what I need, gets great mileage, and has only 76,000 miles, and for a twinky little four cylinder engine, it has a bunch of get up and go.

Now I just need to get some studded tires for it so I can actually make it to work and move my CD player from my old car, and we'll be good to go.

Does anybody want a 1990 Subaru Legacy sedan for parts?

What size are the tires Jake? I have a set of studs in the garage that have only seen one winter that I would love to get rid of.

They're 175/70/13, and I already found a set from a guy on Craigslist that lives about a mile from me and had them installed at America's Tire :-)

(But thanks anyway)

Make sure you change the timing belt every 30,000 or you will be buying a new engine. Mine went about 4 years ago and I haven't come up with the coin to fix the engine in it yet. Mine died at 76000 miles. So it sits in my parents driveway to this day, gathering dust.

My dealership wants $1400 to replace all the valves, shave the heads and put on a new belt. I don't have that kind of coin.
BTW, mine is a silver 2001 Accent L.

The timing belt was changed at 67,000 miles, according to a service record under the hood, so I should be good there. But thanks for the tip.

I really don't care about your life. You don't act in an ethical manner, and I really could care less about the small moments in your life. People have real problems.

If you don't care about my life, why exactly are you here? And how don't I act in an ethical manner?

Wow... some people actually take the time to type shit like that? My vote: Its a spammer.

Sounds like you got a great deal Jake. Lets see the pics!

Kevin is right, you really are self absorbed.

Jake said on 01/12/08 @ 02:25 PM:
Yet you're still here, Dan.

Some of the other stories you have are interesting. But they are usually not your's. You always have a smart ass anwer if someone does not agree with you. Just giving my point of view. Not here anymore.

Jake.. you're unethical because you beat a used car dealer at their own game. lol. Maybe they'll proof their ads now.
