What's Happened To the Birch Trees?
I've been wondering this for months, but just haven't had a chance to ask here: Why are the area birch trees dying? We have a bunch of once-glorious trees in my neighborhood that now look like crap.
H. Bruce Miller looked into it, and, naturally, it's a stupid little beetle.

ExBender said on 08/10/07 @ 05:42 PM: It happened here -- Yakima and Kittitas Valleys in Washington. Six beautiful Birch trees that my parents had nurtured for 40 years are now just stumps.
If you have Birch trees, read Miller's article and follow the advice there. I.e., give your trees LOTS of water and to be even safer, call a tree surgeon to apply a systemic insecticide.
