UtterlyBoring.com is produced by Jake Ortman (e-mail, resume), a 33-year-old dad, percussionist, sysadmin, Web developer, IT consultant and jack-of-all-trades geek, living in Bend, Oregon. He created this so that his expensive journalism and technology degree isn't getting totally wasted. In addition to editing this site in his free time, he is the IT Director and graphic designer at both Sunray and Discover Sunriver. He has LinkedIn and Facebook profiles if you're trying to stalk him. He will not be posting on Twitter.

9/11 Internet and Broadcast History
Trying to clear out my inbox here, but I did want to make sure this got posted: Screenshots from online news sites on September 11/12, 2001. You can also check out the Web archive's 9/11 collection here as well as more information here. CNN is also running free video from that day on their Web site (the live video was a bit too much for me just as it was back then).
If this gets to be a bit too much for you, regain some happiness by popping some bubble wrap. Thanks to Cheryl and Barney and Boing Boing (who has a pretty impressive archive for the month) for the links.
If anybody has a 9/11 story to share, feel free to do so below.

Cheryl Howard said on 09/11/06 @ 08:02 PM: I was doing perfectly fine today. Then I read this at one of my morning haunts:

I was okay until I began to read the posts. As I posted, I gave up. I was puffy weepy eyed girl all day.
Virtual popping bubble wrap. Cool.
Live on the Fly Studio said on 09/12/06 @ 08:34 AM: My old radio partner (Dave Wooten) and I had just gotten done interviewing Moon Unit Zappa (who was in NY City) when someone stuck their head in our studio and said the first plane had flown into the tower. We instantly switched over to our news affiliate and covered it that way, popping in once in a while to let listeners know what was happening. Our phone rang all morning, non-stop. We found out later just how cool Moon Unit is, she and the producer from VH-1 literally ran down to a nearby hospital in NYC to give blood.

What are you doing down here? Don't you have something better to do? Like Go Back To The Top of the page, or even see who created this site? This site is © 2001 - 2012 by the Utterly Boring folks at UtterlyBoring.com. Steal my content, as I probably did, too, just link to my site or the original site. Batteries not included. One size fits all. Not for off-road use. Not for internal use. Do not taunt Happy Fun Ball.
