UtterlyBoring.com is produced by Jake Ortman (e-mail, resume), a 30-year-old dad, percussionist, freelance Web designer, consultant and jack-of-all-trades computer geek, living in Bend, Oregon. He created this so that his expensive journalism and technology degree isn't getting totally wasted. The Big Box Stores Are Going To The Birds......literally. Not all birds fly south for the winter; some head for Home Depot and other big-box stores.I've seen birds flying around Costco, Home Depot, and Lowes in Bend, and wondered if this was a problem elsewhere. The staff was worried because it would set off the alarm if they couldn't get it to go outside... and apparently the mall management and animal control were less than helpful. Bailey said on 06/09/06 @ 01:11 AM: We had a sparrow in our Walmart last winter. I thought it was the coolest. It was cute! I would spend easily 10 minutes hunting the little guy down in the beams or following him around. He would chirp every so often but he never came down very low, never lower than the top shelf of any of the shelving units. So it's not like he dive-bombed shoppers or was a nuisance.
