If you're reading this, you have too much time on your hands.
This is for you RSS-feed-reading or e-mail-list-reading folk who have no idea that I just put a cheap plug on top of my site that will go away in a week or so. So for those folks: Coming This Weekend: CASCADE WINDS SYMPHONIC BAND IN CONCERT: Sunday, March 19, 2:00 p.m. & Monday, March 20, 7:30 p.m., Pinckney Center for the Performing Arts, COCC. FREE. Among the diverse repertoire on this concert, the Cascade Winds, under the direction of Michael Gesme, will present four works by American composer Leroy Anderson and a work for solo bassoon featuring Wendy Bloom and a piece where you get to see me make music with Sandpaper blocks. Now that's entertainment, right?. Info: COCC Box Office: 383-7575 or online at www.cascadewinds.org. Free and open to all.
(Editor's Note: Now in all the years I've mentioned the band on this site, I don't think I've gotten a single person to come to the concert from a post here. I'd really like to change that, as the group is really good, we have a lot of fun, and the music is wonderful. And you get to see me in a tux. And it's free. So what have you got to lose? I hope to see you there, and be sure to stop by and say "Hi").
Paul said on 03/12/06 @ 04:04 PM: I'd stop by, really, (I played trumpet myself until recently) but the location is somewhat of a problem. I guess thats the thing with internet, Jake. Will there be a live webcast? *rolls eyes*
Jake said on 03/12/06 @ 04:14 PM: What, Paul, you don't want to fly in from overseas?
(We're good, but not THAT good to make it worth it).
But if I had the equipment, I'd do a Webcast, I just don't have the technology to pull it off, and I don't know how easy it would be getting a good 'net connection in that auditorium.
That one girl said on 03/12/06 @ 06:47 PM: This fits in well with my mid-life crisis/empty next syndrome. I resolve to: DO STUFF ALONE!
Might drag the husband, but it could be a tough sell. I'll see you afterwards and will use the code phrase "Was that 120 grit" and you need to responsd "no. But I have that at home".
teeee heee heee
ok. no challenge-response. but i'll be there.
That one girl said on 03/12/06 @ 06:49 PM: Uh Oh. So I just ran downstairs and meitoned it to the husband. Note to others: DO NOT SAY YOU FOUND IT ON UTTERLYBORING.COM. Not a good start for a sales pitch ;)
Jake said on 03/13/06 @ 09:45 AM: Actually, there are three of us playing sandpaper blocks -- one 150 grit, one 100 grit, and one 60 grit. And no, I'm not kidding.
greg said on 03/13/06 @ 05:15 PM: I would come but it's a bit of a drive from Colorado. LOL
