Google Introduces Web Page Creator

And, naturally, accounts are closed on the new service so I don't know much about the service other than what other folks say. But it looks like it might be poised as a MySpace knockoff, but I can't really tell. Anybody actually played with the thing?

Why would they make another MySpace knockoff?

They already have one, it's orkut.com.

I don't know why you can't log in Jake, but I logged into their new service just fine with my gmail account.

The gmail account can be used to log into ANY google service.

Anyway, I just played with it for a couple of minutes, and it's by far the best online amateur website designer/editor I've ever seen.

It reminds of alot of geocities (ugh), but there's no loading to be done here and it's all extremely clean, with many layout options, file upload, HTML editor, & 100MB of space.

Adult content is not forbidden, but you have to let google know by selecting a box. (I haven't read the terms to see how far "adult content" here goes).

Sites upload to account.googlepages.com. Thumbs up!! Very cool.

I tried to login, but was told that they weren't accepting any more entries but I would be alerted when they were.
