Essential Fonts

This site is loaded with a pile of freeware fonts that every designer should have. And if you could only have six fonts to buy, here's what some designers would purchase.

When I was working at a big company (which I will choose to leave nameless) they made a horrific to-do about changing all company correspondence to be written in frutiger and insisted that even email be composed with this font since they paid for licensing.
They had also gone through a logo change that required specific ratios between their logo and any text that might be placed next to it - even to the point of making the text unreadable on a storefront sign if the overall size of the sign was limited by building codes.
