Buster Bunny’s Lesbian Adventure

It’s amazing to me the idiots who seem to think that a children’s TV program that casually mentions something remotely related to lesbianism is somehow going to turn all children into gays. This is your tax dollars at work here, folks.

The nation’s new education secretary denounced PBS on Tuesday for spending public money on a cartoon with lesbian characters, saying many parents would not want children exposed to such lifestyles.

The not-yet-aired episode of “Postcards From Buster” shows the title character, an animated bunny named Buster, on a trip to Vermont — a state known for recognizing same-sex civil unions. The episode features two lesbian couples, although the focus is on farm life and maple sugaring.

The episode information was removed from PBS’s site, but it still remains in the Google Cache. Quoting the page:

While there, we visited Emma, David, and James, who live with their two moms, Karen and Gillian. Karen and my mom used to work at the same newspaper together.

Oh yeah, that’ll make all children turn gay. Idiots.

Criminy, if the United Church of Christ can accept gay characters with open arms, why can’t our government?

Oh my goodness! I’ve got to stop my son from watching this show. He loves it. This will turn him into some kind of tree-hugging liberal! Gah!
It’s been a while since I’ve been here, but I should be coming back more often. Enjoy the reading as always.

Here! Here! It’s all ridiculous and it makes them look like a bunch of tools, but I suspect all this hype is a smokescreen to detract from other mischief that is going on.

Who said that the episode was pulled because of the fear that it would turn kids gay? That’s just a straw man argument. The truth is that many parents may not want their young kids exposed to an affirmative view of homosexuality, NOT for fear that they will turn gay, but that they will come to view that lifestyle as fine/healthy/moral, etc. Now you may disagree with those parents’ view of homosexuality, but that does not change the point that they rightfully can expect to not have television producers introducing their kids to what is a very contentious and debatible issue. The presentation of the lesbian couple is not a “neutral,” a-ideological presentation of reality; it is a clear statement that “this is normal,” “this is OK,” etc. But many parents do not agree with that view, and they do not want their kids to be fed it from a cartoon rabbit. Disagree with the moral view of those parents all you want, but respect their desire to not want kids programming to be the arbiter of what is “fine and normal” and what is not for their kids.

Its a kids show not meant for sumbilimial messages telling kids that homos are allright. infact homos are wierd and wrong What they do is despicable and down-right disgusting. Further more i would apprecitate it if the gays keep there dirty ideas out of the kids shows

Ottohappus says:

It’s an accurate depiction of how things are in vermont. The show doesn’t even cover the dynamics or affirm anything. Would it be better to disseminate incorrect information? Perhaps the show could be everyone in vermont snow boarding and doing x-games instead of trying to stick to an accurate depiction of current affairs. Go move to compound if you don’t want to see reality.

I think what some people are forgetting that it is a public show, for the public, and a bit of diversity can only provide us with a show which caters to children from all walks of life.
Do some people forget that homosexuals are also Mothers and Fathers? There are thousands upon thousands of children in the world of gay parentage, who would benefit from viewing this program, or do they not count? Children of straight parentage may know of families where parents are gay, some may not. Showing a gay family on a cartoon show is an education, it does not make children become gay, or make them believe it is ideal either, it is only showing one example of a gay family.
Remember Sesame Street? It made a point of showing many examples of different families, be that single parent families, families where a grandparent is the sole carer, families where there is both a mother and father, and families of mixed race. This concept of showing many different examples of daily life did not advocate any particular way of family life, but instead, demonstrated that ‘normality’ is relative. An example: the fact that little Jimmy did not have a Mum certainly did not mean that his family was not a family like any other where a female carer was present, it was just different. Would anybody here believe that watching a program showing a single parent family would make their child grow up to never marry, or even be a multiple divorcee? I didn’t think so.
If I were to contact a television network to complain that a children‘s television show featured a family with straight parents and then suggest that such a show would corrupt my child I would be laughed off the phone. Similar arguments about the bunny show seem just as ridiculous to me.
The issue here is that people are too ignorant and afraid of what they don’t know that the will not allow their children to have the education they never had. Instead of teaching your children avoidance of those that are a little different, switch on during the cartoon in question and discuss the issue with your children. Ask yourself afterwards if it has really done any harm.
Gay families are families too!

I for one am sick and tired of having to canves cartoons shows because some pinheaded LIBERAL GAY/LESBIAN wants to shove her views done my kids throat by doing it subversely!!!!!!!!!! The queers want to indoctrinate children at an early age so that when they are older their tolerance for this lifestyle will be accepted. This is a lifestyle that causes disease and death. What comes out of the rear is filthy was it is beyond me that anyone gay or not would wwant to stick something uop into that area. This is unacceptable behavior and it should not be tolerated.

God says:

Hey, Greg.
Lay off the hate.
Remember, I created all of my children, not just the straight ones. And I love you all equally.

Annie says:

Greg… If your only problem is anal sex, then why are you opposing a lesbian couple?
And, for the record, straight people have anal sex too.
