When Cartoonists Fight
I like Penny Arcade. I also like Non Sequitur. But I have to agree with Gabe on this one that Wiley screwed this one up. Web publishing is a very strong medium, and he'll realize that soon enough -- especially considering what Penny Arcade has done over the years.
More background on the fights here. Links via Waxy.

Brad said on 01/10/05 @ 01:24 PM: Um, how could you post that and not post a link to PVP? Player Versus Player is perhaps the funniest daily read I have. You can access his archives and see all the funny 8 years worth of comics.
Jake said on 01/10/05 @ 01:28 PM: I like PVP, too, as well as a lot of other comics (Get Fuzzy, Foxtrot, Redmeat, Doonesbury, as well as a bunch of others) but they weren't really relevant to the discussion so I didn't mention them :-)
David Koontz said on 01/11/05 @ 01:54 PM: The reason PVP is relevant to this discussion while those others you mentioned are not is because it one of the the other major Internet web comics. Doonesbury doesn't live or die on web hits, PVP does and PVP is even more relevant becasue it was the target of this whole debacle by Wiley.
Brad said on 01/12/05 @ 10:37 AM: As you may be aware, it was the writer of PVP who offered to allow his comic to be used by newspapers for free, thereby attempting to circumvent the normal route of selling your strip to a group who then market to newspaper. The writer of Non Sequitor and Steve Kurtz (PVP author) have gotten into a war of words of sorts because the Non Sequitor guy believes that Steve can't make it because he hasn't pulled himself up like the others have had too. Anyway, given that my favorite cartoonist of all time (Calvin and Hobbes) hated the system, I am all for Steve bypassing the system.
Chris Oakley said on 04/29/05 @ 07:59 AM: As a person,as a cartoonist,Wiley Miller basically sucks.
Chris Oakley said on 04/29/05 @ 08:00 AM: For my money,Wiley Miller sucks both as a person and as a cartoonist.
