Geek Joke
Why do maths geeks always get Christmas and Halloween mixed up?
Because Oct 31 is Dec 25.
(Please tell me I'm not the only one that actually gets that joke. Thanks b3ta for it.)

Angie said on 12/14/04 @ 01:32 PM: Okay, I offically unresign from the math geek club. Please tell me what I am missing from this?
Jake said on 12/14/04 @ 01:35 PM: I won't give this away entirely, but think base 8 (Oct) versus base 10 (Dec) number systems.
David said on 12/14/04 @ 02:33 PM: yep, sorry, dont get it.
MojoMark said on 12/14/04 @ 02:41 PM: I got it. Took me a couple of seconds - I had to reach into the wayback brain cells - but I snickered.
Rob Salzman said on 12/14/04 @ 04:33 PM: geek
J. J. said on 12/14/04 @ 11:38 PM: You might as well have given it away with that comment, Jake! I'll just have to gloat to myself, like MojoMark. Pretty nifty "joke".
caleb said on 12/15/04 @ 05:31 AM: ......nope, dont get it
Pat said on 12/15/04 @ 06:47 AM: sadly, they first thing i thought was, "why didn't i think of that?"
Jake said on 12/15/04 @ 09:08 AM: Sadly, J.J., as you can see, there are still people that don't get it. It's really not all that funny, so don't worry if you're not getting it.
Dave M. said on 12/15/04 @ 10:30 AM: What? I thought it is great! What amazes me is the incredible coincidence of the two dates and their mathematical significance!
I wonder what numerologists think of this?
Isaac Laquedem said on 12/15/04 @ 12:20 PM: Along the same lines, in 2002 the Ides of October (Oct 15) was especially unlucky because it was also Friday, Dec 13.
Isaac Laquedem said on 12/15/04 @ 12:22 PM: "Base 8 is just like base 10, really -- if you're missing two fingers." -- Tom Lehrer
