jon said on 07/25/04 @ 02:46 PM: the only time i saw him say it was once (they used the same clip at the beginning and end) -- the other ones were opinions being read, and others were the words "shut up" taken out of context, it seems?
i don't think this is about the context of "shut up" being said. the point of this is, bill o'reilly is always the first and last to speak, and he will interrupt and cut off anybody who disagrees with him. here's a little transcript of the clip just to keep track...
"shut up.. shut up!"
"shut up about sex"
"listen! cut his mic!"
"hey! shut up! you had your 35 minutes!"
and the most disturbing of them all:
"it is our duty as loyal americans to shut up and shut up publicly."
and
"we expect every american to support our military and if they can't do that the can shut up"
my response: hell no! if we just sit back and shut up about what's going on in this country, it will surely become a dictatorship. like the clip says, "in a democracy, you don't have to shut up. speak up!"
Igor Kemp said on 03/17/05 @ 03:34 PM: If we all waive our rights, and "shut up" as Bill O'Liely suggests, Ummm… what exactly are americans fighting for and dying to protect?
Our right to kill with impunity?
I seem to remember liberty, freedom, and a little thing called the constitution coming into play somewhere… Oh, well, my bad!
