Firefox 0.9 is Out

For your downloading pleasure (and it's a small download -- they've managed to get a kick-ass browser install in less than 5-megs!). Please try to use the download mirrors.

Nabbed it. It sure has a different look. :)
I still think that what they need the most badly is the ability to sync your profile (skin choices, browser options, bookmarks) with an rpc service online, so you can easily use your profile on any install of firefox anywhere in the world.

Why? Because every time I install on someone's computer I have to remember to change that "automagically download files to #$@ desktop" setting for new lusers. The person I'm installing for probably is a new luser, so that's ok for them, I just wanna be able to grab an encrypted copy of my settings off some server and make them live. Add a bookmark, re-sync them to server and have the bookmark waiting for me when I get home.

I'm sorry to vent about that here btw, I just wanted to do so before I forgot. :)

Jesse,

If you don't know it, the latest foxes have a new "roaming profile" ability.
Well, it's not a "distant profile" as you asked, but the ability to start and use FireFox with the profile folder on a relative (or absolute) path, wathever the $USERPROFILE settings of the local computer.
Say you got an usb key or something and shout from it
'firefox.exe -Profile "../profiledir"'
So yu can at least travel with your fox on your neck lace... ;-)

See ya

OK, I might have to get a USB key just for this reason :-)

Well, you were the one asking for some fancy server stored profile settings... So I thought you got at least one usb device per finger.

If you don't, edit a few config files in the fox, either rebuild if you need some indepth changes, or simply write a nice nsis script, lzma to save some space, and you shall be able to distribute to your Lusers friends a nice out of the bow JakeFox. :-)
