UtterlyBoring.com is produced by Jake Ortman (e-mail, resume), a 33-year-old dad, percussionist, sysadmin, Web developer, IT consultant and jack-of-all-trades geek, living in Bend, Oregon. He created this so that his expensive journalism and technology degree isn't getting totally wasted. Irony at its finestI happened to be looking through my server logs, and noticed my stylesheet was getting linked to directly from an outside site. I had no idea why anybody would be linking directly to it, so I checked the referrer, and got this page: Obviously, the page is in a foreign language, so I had it translated. The title of the site and the content on it? It roughly translate "Why plagiarism happens in Universities and how to avoid it". Ironic (or hypocritical?) that they're stealing my template and stylesheet on a site about stealing content. 1 CommentEduardo said on 01/05/04 @ 12:23 PM:Returning from Holydays I found that our page has been visited a lot thanks to this posting. One of my assistants made the plagiarism page using, I've thought, an OSWD template, but apparently she copied it from your home site. Obviously inexperienced, she leaved all links and metas from the original file. As I understand the facts, no direct intention was made to use inappropriately the design. The page and its template have been now removed from the web. As coordinator of the project, please accept my apologies for "stealing" your template. Post a comment |
